Living the PURPLE life and having a PURPLE Aura means making life choices that align with your passion and purpose.

So this begs the question: how do you find your passion and purpose?

You don’t figure out your passion and purpose in a day. Some would say it’s an active, continuous journey of self-reflection and self-discovery, curiosity, and even trial and error. Consider yourself lucky if you’ve figured out your passion and purpose. And that’s one thing to note: you can figure them out.

By staying curious, keeping an open mind, and trying new things, you will discover the things that you’re good at, that inspire you, and that make you feel happy and fulfilled. Your passion is something you excel at and genuinely enjoy doing. They say one pointed question you should ask yourself when discovering your passion is, “What would I do for free?”

Finding your purpose is a little trickier because it involves “looking from the inside out.” It means starting at the core (yourself) and extending outward (outside yourself). First, you discover your core: the values, beliefs, strengths, and passions that define you. Then you harness all of these things to serve your growth and/or something or someone outside yourself. The Japanese concept of ikigai, which translates to “a reason for being,” places your purpose (or mission) as the intersection of doing what you love (“yourself”) and meeting what the world needs (“outside yourself”). “World,” in this case, does not necessarily mean the whole world; it can be your community, your company, your family, or your relationships.

Purpose is the reason something exists. Your purpose is the reason behind your choices and your actions, and your choices and actions can exist to improve yourself, accomplish a goal, to help a loved one, or to contribute to society. These reasons are your purpose, and they give you a reason to wake up each morning and live the best life you can.

Pursue your passions. Live your purpose. Find your PURPLE.
